As time goes by
And moments fly
I sometimes cry
And sometimes sigh
But there\'s much more
To life than chore:
Down in the core
Of my being
I am seeing,
And I'm thankful
By the brimful,
I'm not fleeing...
But by God's grace
I can embrace
All that life brings,
So my soul sings
The praise of Him
Who died for me:
He lives in me
Eternally...
Because of Him,
My hope is strong:
It won't be long
He'll right all wrong!

Comment: Hello to all of you who share all our wonderful experiences at hillcrest.
i was there from 1st-4th grade (78-81) and loved my short stay there. my memories are: memorizing the books of the bible, watching jaws and falling out of my seat, crying after watching sound of music, a talent show where two people were playing tennis and the ball was a flashlight being moved around behind a white bed sheet.
miss rose twisting my ear, miss van leeuwen\'s hugs, mrs. mckenzie saying \"hey, gang!\" to quiet down our class, heckman hall w/ john de jager...i can still smell the cafeteria food, peter and the wolf song in miss flory\'s class, the odor of our nap blankets, the scary diving boards, rock climbing excursions, sarah miner r.i.p., field trip to the jos dairy, songs like \"let us sing the books of moses\" and \"joy is the flag flown high from the castle of my heart...\"
i am in southern california, usa. married for 17yrs w/2 wonderful boys 7 and 10 years old. i would love to keep in touch with anyone who would like to also.
i can be found in the 1st grade 78 yearbook of this link http://www.africanchop.com/class.htm, email is marcmlglg (at) yahoo(.)com
thank you for keeping in touch!

Comment:Hi all,
Can't believe 27 years have gone by. Seems yesterday. I attended grades 9 and 10 in '80-'82 and, thanks to the net, I've got back in touch with a few old friends from Hillcrest.
Francesca Valle: I was a Boulder Hill too but can't remember you. I still have those crest books, will check up.
Some of us are on the mailing list at hillcrest(minus)l(at)mknet(dot)org although it has got so quiet lately. Many are on facebook (lots of pictures)

Greetings Hillcrest Alumni!!
Some may have heard the ‘buzz.’ Hillcrest School would like to host a ‘Mini Re-union’ for all the alumni that happen to be in the area the weekend of the Baccalaureate service. May 22-24.
We are planning to get together in Room 8 (The AV room in the Middle School) at 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 24. There will be finger food and drinks. We have a video that was produced by Dan McCain (Class of 97) of Hillcrest School that we will show. The rest of the afternoon will be for “meeting and greeting.” At 6:30 there is the Baccalaureate Service at which returning alumni are introduced. You are all invited to attend.
There will be a volleyball tournament for the guys and a soccer tournament for the girls that weekend. Saturday is the annual Sports Awards event. Saturday afternoon, for those of you still in the ‘flower of your youth’, the volleyball nets will be up and balls will be available if you want to show the youth of today how it was done it those days!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on each others lives.
Can’t wait to see you all!!

Comment: I treasure my years at Hillcrest. There were many good memories, and i wonder where many of my classmates are now. Quite by accident, i found a great friend that went to Hillcrest after me, but lives very close to me now.My parents, Charles and Gwenyth Lee were house parents of the girls dorm for a period of time.

Comment: I would have graduated with the class of "75. I have been surfing the internet today reading letters and blogs from Hillcrest students - I've cried (make that SOBBED) as I related to the same feelings of "abandonment" and "blame" that we have all experienced at different levels, and now I'm smiling and LAUGHING as I see names below that are familiar. "Ditto" to all the comments I've read below!!! I miss Nigeria, my birthland and childhood home, so much; I wish with all my heart I could just go back and visit those childhood haunts once more but know that those visual memories are probably best kept in my mind. I am so thankful for the experience my parents provided for me (good and bad) and the faces of the friends I made then are still very vivid in my mind even with the lack of pictures to remind me. If anyone remembers a MARGIE BURTNER or ANNE GREBINGER (I think I remember their names correctly), can you let me know please.

Comment: Hello anyone who was in 4th and 5th grade with me all those years ago. I remember some names from Uncle Tony's hostel, Jonathan Turner, Dragon Stapic, among others but haven't had contact since we unexpectedly left there due to my mother's illness forced us home from the mission field. I live in Altoona, Pennsylvania now, am married with three kids of my own. I believe my time in Africa has made a significant impact on me and am now involved as a volunteer child advocate with Compassion International. If anyone remembers me, shoot me an email. kmcquillen at mcaneny dot biz
